We had a very busy week in Gan Ramat Gan.
Sela has received a grant for the Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Program from OSSE. This means students will have the opportunity ( at least twice a week) to experience the tasting of a new/unique fruit or vegetable. Last week we tried pinapples. This week we tasted strawberries on Tuesday and carrots on Thursday. We learned about the history of these vegetables and fruits and also the reason why they are healthy.
The highlight of the week was our amazing performance at the Winter Wonderland festival. Please click on the link here to see us and listen to our songs.
You can find more photos about our snowmen below.
Field Trip
On Thursday the amazing Mr. B visited us and we learned about rock and roll, jazz, classical music and different instruments. Song of the week below. (We all know how to sing leKova sheli shalosh pinot, ask us at home) HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

This week we opened Ramat Gan Hospital.
We learned that hospital, health, healing, help start with the letter "H" , Ramat Ganians can take letter H from the hospital and trace it. The hospital has an ambulance entrance, emergency room reception area, waiting room for patients, eye, nose, ear and heart test rooms and a weight and height room with a scale. We have a wheel chair, a walker, crutches, white cane and a guide dog for blind people. Some of our patients received glasses this week. One needs to wear a safety helmet as well. The logo of our pharmacy is the red snake and we learned that snake is a symbol of medicine (nachash in Hebrew). Our medications are labeled by body parts that we know in Hebrew as well. Please find additional staff photos and the hospital below.
Writing
We kept on practicing the letters of our names with Ms. Alexander in the writing center. Hebrew It was a very special week because we read one of the most beautiful books of Israeli children's literature: The Tale of Five Balloons. Let me quote Wikipedia "Plot The book is about five children each of whom get a balloon from Ruti's mother — a blue balloon for Ruti, yellow for Ron, purple for Sigalit, green for Uri and red for Alon. During the book, all the children's balloons burst, with the exception of Alon's, which the wind blew out of the children's reach. The children look at the balloon and shout "Bye, bye, red balloon!". Whenever one of the balloons bursts, the children are comforted and told "that's the end of every balloon". Each balloon had burst for the following different reasons:
The text can help pre-schoolers deal with loss, including more permanent losses later in life, such as losing a pet or friend. Roth revealed that the story-line evolved from efforts to comfort her own children when a balloon she brought home after being away for a while burst. The book also explores number and color concepts in rhyming, musical language" When Ms. Anna read a shorter version of the book she named the cat after Gabrielle's cat, Bob Marley, so don't be surprised if Ramat Ganians do not know Mitzi and insist on Bob Marley. Hebrew words: balon adom - red balloon balon kahol - blue balloon balon sagol - purple balloon balon tzahov - yellow balloon balon yarok - green balloon habalon hitpotzetz - the balloon popped habalon nikra - the balloon is torn shemesh - sun gado -l big Listen to the book below:
Center Assignments
Ramat Ganians are getting more and more independent. This week student assistants started asking their peers which Center they would like to go to and distributing badges. Books We opened two new shelves of books and changed the structure of our library. It was a huge success and attracted a large crowd of book lovers. Ms. Alexander read Froggy goes to the doctor by Jonathan London for the class. In addition to our classroom library, we also checked out the following books from the public library. We encourage you to check out some of these books as well when you visit your local library:
Songs
We started to prepare for the Winter Festival with both a Hebrew and an English song. You can listen to the songs at home and sing along. We are singing only the first verse of the Hebrew song which is about the rain. In Israel, winter is rainy. Geshem geshem mishamayim. Col hayom tipot hamayim. Tif, tif, taf, tif, tif, taf Machau kaf el kaf Tif, taf, tif, taf, tif, tif, taf, tif, tif , taf Machau kaf el kaf Listen to the songs below. We had a wonderful week in Gan Ramat Gan. |
