English Greetings once again Gan Ramat Gan Families! Sorry I missed posting the week prior, but I was a little under the weather. Well...I’m back and ready to tell you all about our week in Ramat Gan! During Second Step this week the class was introduced to the concept of caring for others. I used Tommy and Tasha to create a scenario with Tasha being sad about not getting the toy that she really wanted to play with, so Tommy came over to ask what was wrong, then he talked to her, and let her know that it was okay, and that she would get a turn later. He soothed her by gently brushing her arm while saying that it was okay in a nice reassuring voice. Tasha felt much better! I used this scenario along with the actual scenario card for this week, and the class really started to understand this concept. We practiced how to react and care for our friends each day this week, and they got it!! Last weeks concept was learning what an accident is versus doing something on purpose, and again I used a Tommy and Tasha scenario, which they seemed to comprehend. These puppets really makes a big difference in how they are learning these social concepts. Second Step Home Link - Caring and Helping During Fundations I introduced the letter D, and together we explored words that begin with the sound the letter D makes. They are generally really getting good at letter sounds and making word connections. I’m really proud of them, because even if they don’t know...they try! And that is very important(we also reviewed the other letters). This week I introduced more writing into the mix! I found these really cool blank pumpkin books in Target, and couldn’t pass them up. I just wanted them to practice using lines to try and create letters and shapes. They had fun, and most of them were very proud when they succeeded in writing a letter or drawing a shape. We will continue to write in these books next week as well. The week before last they painted leaf shapes with the paint sticks, so next week I will display those on the wall! On this Tuesday the 20th, we will have pajama fun day, in which your child can wear their pajamas and bring in “one” special toy to play with, and possibly share with others. I’ve already talked to them about sharing, and switching with one another. We will see how this works!! Well, that’s it for now, so until next time... (voiced by Gabi Bayer) Song of the Week: More great pics from the Fall Festival from Collin's parents: English Greetings Gan Ramat Gan Parents! This week in Ramat Gan, the children were introduced to the life cycle of the pumpkin, which is as follows: 1. Seeds 2. Sprout 3. Plant 4. Flower 5. Green pumpkin 6. Orange pumpkin. They also learned that pumpkins come in more than one color. We talked a lot about the lumina pumpkin, or as I referred to it...the ghost pumpkin. If someone happens to come across a lumina pumpkin please bring one in to share. The class was also introduced to the word “Harvest”, and learned that it basically means...ready to be picked (taken to the grocery stores/eaten), and they seemed to really be interested in this subject! Also if someone can find some pumpkin seeds somewhere (cooked or raw), I would greatly appreciate it if you could bring some to school (Thanks!). Also during this week we reviewed our Fundations letters, and I added a different element by using a wonderful alphabet video that really showcased proper letter sounds along with a corresponding photos. I did this twice this week, and by the second time, many of them were seeing along! During Second Step, they were introduced to “same and different”, as it pertains to feeling/emotions (ex. We’re both sad, or I’m happy and you’re angry). Lastly, the children enjoyed a Fall painting activity using this new kind of paint that I picked up at Michael’s. They look like glue sticks, but they are actually paint sticks. The colors are vibrant, it dries fast, and there is pretty much NO mess!! The children absolutely loved this art activity. Ms. Sam sent us a form where we could add things that we want for our classroom...I’m definitely adding this kind of paint to the list!! I would even suggest that you buy this kind of paint for home art projects with the kids. Well...that’s it for now! So until next time...
